The NAACP Maricopa County Branch commends the transparency of the Phoenix Police Department and supports the plans for an immediate investigation by the Professional Standards Bureau of a recent incident of misconduct. This incident as depicted in a video of June 11, 2019 shared by the Phoenix Police Department, appears to involve excessive force by Police Officers. The video shows that guns were drawn on a man and women while two small children were present as a follow-up to an investigation of a shop lifting occurrence . The NAACP Maricopa County Branch recommends continued transparency and monitoring of this incident which appears to be an egregious case of excessive force.
