Response to the Ahmaud Arbery Shooting

The Maricopa County Branch of the NAACP sends our prayers and condolences to the family of Ahmaud Arbery. The Maricopa County Branch-NAACP, “The Branch,” joins with the national NAACP President, Derrick Johnson and Georgia State NAACP President , James Wadell, in the call for justice in the Ahmaud Arbery case .

It is a travesty that it took (seventy-four) 74 days before suspects were apprehended and detained when the murder of Mr. Arbery had been previously video tapped. This is yet another grim illustration that much is still left to be done to ensure justice is served for all. It is our prayer that judicial equity will prevail in this great country called America.

It is imperative that the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia conduct a fair and impartial assessment of the facts in an effort to determine if this was indeed another unfortunate premeditated hate crime.

“The Branch” will continue to advocate on behalf of any and all efforts to seek justice for a fair and unbiased trail.

Karen Hardin, Branch President Princess Lucas-Wilson, Criminal Justice/Public Safety Committee Chair
